Aluroll Secureroll Classic 77mm Roller Garage Door

The Aluroll Secureroll Classic 77mm is a made-to-measure electric roller garage door designed for standard single garages and wider openings. Its twin-walled aluminium slats are filled with polyurethane foam to improve heat and sound insulation, while the curtain opens vertically and rolls neatly into the box above.

Manufactured in the UK and carrying Secured by Design approval, it suits homeowners who need a door for a larger opening and a higher-security specification than the more compact 55mm model.

How the Secureroll Classic works and protects the garage

The Secureroll Classic opens vertically, with the curtain rolling around a barrel inside the box above the garage opening. It does not swing outwards or travel along tracks across the ceiling, so you can park close to the door and retain the overhead space inside the garage.

Insulated 77mm curtain and guides

The curtain is formed from twin-walled 77mm aluminium slats with a polyurethane foam core, providing heat and sound insulation. High-strength aluminium guide channels hold the curtain securely at each side, while built-in brushes support smoother, quieter travel and help reduce draughts.

A flexible weather seal along the bottom slat helps limit rain entering beneath the closed door.

Anti-lift locking and security

The curtain connects to a strong steel barrel through Aluroll’s patented anti-lift locking system. When the door closes, this arrangement helps prevent the curtain from being forced upwards from below.

There are no exposed handles or conventional locks for an intruder to target, while the reinforced guide channels help prevent the curtain from being forced out at the sides. The Classic also carries Secured by Design accreditation, confirming that it has passed independent testing designed to assess its resistance to attempted break-ins.

Automated safety and control

A Somfy motor and control panel operate the door, with two four-button remote handsets supplied as standard. Rolling-code technology generates a different code each time a handset is used, helping prevent unauthorised access through copied signals.

The safety edge within the bottom slat detects an obstruction and stops and reverses the door. An integrated safety brake prevents the curtain from dropping if the motor fails.

The control panel also includes an automatic courtesy light, a built-in vibration sensor that can trigger a 100dB alarm, and a holiday mode that disables normal operation until unlocked with a handset. An internal manual override allows the door to be opened and closed during a power cut.

Fitting Options

The Secureroll Classic can be positioned behind the opening, within it, or on the external face of the garage. The right arrangement depends on the available headroom, side clearance, and whether preserving the full drive-through opening is the priority.

Internal face fix

The door is fitted to the inside face of the garage, behind the opening. This is the most common arrangement because it keeps the box and guide channels inside while preserving the maximum clear drive-through width and height.

Reveal fix

The door is fitted within the garage opening. This can work where there is no suitable internal face for mounting, but the box and guide channels occupy part of the opening and reduce the available drive-through space.

Sufficient headroom is still required within the reveal, so the opening dimensions need to be checked carefully before ordering.

External face fix

The door is fitted to the outside face of the garage when internal headroom, pipework, or other obstructions make an internal arrangement unsuitable. The box and guide channels remain visible from outside, and the concave side of the curtain faces outwards, so the appearance should be considered when choosing the door finish.

The fitting position affects the ordering dimensions and required clearances. See our guide to roller garage door fitting positions before measuring.

Headroom and sizing guidance

The Secureroll Classic is made to measure, with a maximum overall width of 5500mm and a maximum height of 5200mm. The final size available also depends on the total surface area and selected door specification.

The box sits above the opening, with the required headroom determined by the guide height:

Guide Height vs Required Headroom

  • Up to 1750mm: 250mm
  • Up to 2650mm: 300mm
  • Up to 3640mm: 360mm

These dimensions apply to a standard roller configuration and serve as a guide. Taller or wider doors, or a reverse-rolled curtain, may require a larger box.

Allow either 70mm or 90mm at each side for the guide channels. With a reveal fix, that space is taken from the clear drive-through width.

Measure the opening at several points and follow our roller garage door measuring guide before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Secureroll Classic 77mm and Compact 55mm?

The Classic uses larger 77mm insulated slats and supports wider garage openings than the Compact. It also offers Secured by Design approval, vision profiles, wood-laminate finishes, and bespoke powder coating. The 55mm Compact is intended for smaller openings where available headroom is limited.

Is the Secureroll Classic insulated?

Yes, the twin-walled aluminium slats contain a polyurethane foam core that helps reduce heat transfer and sound transmission. Brush-lined guide channels support quieter operation and help reduce draughts, while a flexible seal along the bottom slat helps limit rain entering beneath the closed door.

What does Secured by Design mean?

Secured by Design is a UK police-backed security initiative. The Secureroll Classic has passed independent testing designed to assess its resistance to attempted break-ins. Its security features include high-strength guide channels and a patented anti-lift system that helps prevent the curtain from being forced upwards.

What is the maximum size available?

The Secureroll Classic is available up to 5500mm overall width, 5200mm maximum height, and a maximum surface area of 16m²/20m², subject to the final door specification.

How much headroom does the Secureroll Classic require?

The required headroom is 250mm, 300mm, or 360mm, depending on the guide height and door specification. Taller or wider doors, or a reverse-rolled curtain, may require a larger box, so the available space should be checked before ordering.

Which fitting positions are available?

The door can be fitted behind the opening with an internal face fix, within the opening as a reveal fix, or on the outside face of the garage. The chosen position affects the required measurements and the clear drive-through dimensions.

What controls are included, and can the door operate during a power cut?

The door includes a Somfy control panel and two four-button remote handsets. An internal manual override allows the curtain to be opened and closed using a winding handle during a power cut. An external manual override is available as an optional extra.

What colours and design options are available?

The Classic is offered in 21 standard colours, including painted wood effects. Four wood-laminate finishes and bespoke RAL or BS powder coating are available as upgrades. Optional vision profiles can also be added to allow natural light into the garage.

Is installation included?

No, Garage Doors Direct supplies the Secureroll Classic for nationwide delivery, but installation is not included. You will need to arrange a competent installer or tradesperson familiar with electric roller garage doors and provide accurate measurements when ordering.

What warranty is included?

The Secureroll Classic door, Somfy motor, control panel, and remote controls are covered by a five-year manufacturer's warranty. Cover depends on correct installation, operation, and maintenance. Labour costs and consequential losses are excluded under Aluroll's warranty terms.
